Here you can find all of the important information, to help you make informed decisions in your planning for the Hermanus Camino.
Go to www.hermanuscamino.com – click on the “Book Now” button and then the “View availability & Rates” button.
Scroll through the calendar until you find a suitable “green/available starting date” which will be either a Sunday, Monday or a Tuesday – click on this date to ascertain number of spots available and then book for 1-12 people.
We take a max of 12 guests – price displayed is per person sharing – a single supplement of 30% applies. The single supplement must be manually added on when paying the 50% deposit.
A “red starting date” means that we are full for that particular Camino. If the starting date is blank (-) then we are not able to run a Camino for that week.
You will need to book all 12 spots in order to have your own exclusive group.
Click on the “About the Camino” button on our homepage for all relevant information.
The Hermanus Camino is a “slack-packing” walk and is ALL inclusive, including selected drinks.
The Hermanus Camino is predominantly a walk and not a hike. We have an overall moderate grading. Day 3 does involve some steep inclines and declines, but nothing dangerous or any “drop-offs”.
The average age of all our walkers has been about 60 and we have had many guests in their 70s.
80% of our walkers are female and our oldest person has been a male aged 83!
The Camino is generally recommended for ages from 10-75.
You will be obliged to register and sign an indemnity form. If you do not sign your indemnity form then unfortunately you will not be able to join us on the Hermanus Camino.
Our respect for the environment enforces a zero tolerance for any destruction of the fauna & flora. The farms are working farms and the sampling of any grown product is strictly prohibited. Please take any litter with you.
Contact Irene@suregiltedge.com (071 575 6121) for all your flight and airport transfer requirements.
If driving to the start, then your cars will be securely parked for the duration of the 5 nights at the 1st night’s accommodation. We will keep the keys in case of any eventuality.
Arrival time on day 1 is between 4-5pm – arrange flights/transfers accordingly – it is approximately 1.5hrs from Cape Town.
Your Camino finishes at Burgundy restaurant in Hermanus at 2pm – you will then be transferred to your vehicle at 2:30pm, so if you are needing a flight out of Cape Town, then book for no earlier than 5pm.
If you are getting a transfer, we can arrange for you and your luggage to be collected directly from Burgundy at 2pm.
We have organised discounted rates at the Windsor Hotel for all our Camino walkers to use either before or after the Camino – highly recommended. Send them a mail on info@windsorhotel.co.za and quote the reference “Hermanus Camino” to claim your discount.
EFT payments are to be settled within 7 days of booking. If we do not receive your deposit within this time frame, we will, unfortunately, have to cancel your booking. The balance of your payment is due no later than 30 days before arrival.
A full refund of the deposit is applicable if the trip is cancelled 31 days or more prior to your Camino start date.
Hermanus has a very temperate climate and we recommend all the advertised dates as good walking months – we do not operate during the rainy season (late June/July) and during the peak school holiday period (Easter/Christmas).
There are lots of dams/pools/sea to swim in during the summer months, but the Fynbos is spectacular in the winter months and the Southern Right whales make an appearance from Aug-Nov.
It's your choice, however, you are signing up for an unforgettable experience no matter the time of year.
Please note that we cater for all dietary requirements. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or other. We will send you a form to complete 10 days prior to arrival.
We suggest the following items, besides basic clothing etc:
There is Wifi or cell phone reception throughout most of the 5 nights/6 days. There are no charging facilities at the 2nd night stay, so please keep your phones etc charged – or bring a powerbank.
We will create a “WhatsApp” group of all participants before your Camino starts – this is for communication purposes as well as for safety reasons – also for sharing your photographs and new memories together.
We welcome any corporate bookings for team building etc. We are VAT registered, which is a perfect excuse to save 15% on our already great value package.
